Section 3 of my Mindoro Loop ride.
Honestly, writing this a bit after the fact, I don't recall much of this ride (until after Calapan, below,) other than the east side of the island being much more developed and traffic about 10x more than the west side.
Interestingly: unbeknownst to me, the last section of the ride, from Calapan to Puerto Galera, is the best stretch of road I experienced on the whole island. It's well paved, curvy road through the mountains and jungle, with epic sights including a world-class waterfall. While I have no regrets about riding around the whole island, I also advise anyone thinking of doing the same to consider saving time and effort and simply ride this stretch of road on a day trip (or, if you want some real excitement, consider going both east and west of Puerto Galera - the two most exciting stretches of road on the island, both of which are short and great riding).
Once back in Sabang, I returned the bike to Chris at SSD. Though I was a few hours past my 3rd day mark of a 4 day pre-paid rental (make sense?), he only charged me for 3 days, and returned the payment for the last day - what a truly great and highly recommended service! (with a prior rental in Angeles I was charged the full day in the same scenario).
Next it was back to Big Apple Dive Resort for a few more great days/nights, with another day of awesome diving.
Ride: 165+ km / 4 hrs
Stay: Big Apple Dive Resort $40 ****
